The Franco-Senegalese, Patrice Evra, reacted to the series of demonstrations organized in Senegal in support of the opponent Ousmane Sonko arrested on March 4, 2021 for disturbing public order and calling for insurrection. Patrice Evra joined the fight for justice and democracy led by civil society, the opposition and particularly Senegalese youth. In a video posted on his Facebook page this Sunday, March 7, the left side praises the spirit of the new generation and attacks the rulers. Below are his words which sound like a call for respect for democratic principles.

“The new generation is fed up, the new generation supports Ousmane Sonko. He was arrested illegally, he is a deputy. He received a summons, he did not want to go because as a deputy, he did not He doesn’t need to show up. Now, in a week, he has been taken away all the rights he had. The country is not fooled. He wanted to go with his family, go to court, but he is arrested illegally. And you wonder, why the people are in rage, are on fire. Mr. President, I beg you to release this man. If you want that in the country, it calms down. We are not politicians but it’s a conspiracy. It’s someone who’s coming in, who applied, who came third in 2019, so he’s a serious candidate. All these people who are influential, who call themselves Senegalese, it is also time to speak up. You have to say what you think, when I speak, I speak with my heart. I’m not preparing a speech, it comes from the heart. “
