After two days of hearing, the court decided to give its verdict on February 16, 2017.
Thursday was marked by the prosecutor’s submission and the pleadings of the parties.
The charges against Barthélémy Dias date back to the morning of 22 December 2011. Clashes erupted between the mayor of Mermoz and the thugs of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS) movement. The latter had positioned themselves in front of the premises of the Mayor’s office who had come out armed with a pistol and had intervened. He fires shots. Ndiaga Diouf is hit by a bullet, he succumbs to his injuries during his evacuation to the university hospital center (CHU) of Fann. The scene was filmed by the TFM channel. Barthélémy in front of the cameras confesses to have fired and reached three people at first, before changing his mind and said he did not kill anyone.
10 years in prison is the number of years the prosecutor required during the trial for Barthélémy, and 5 years for his alleged accomplices and 2 years for the assailants.
The verdict will be known in February.
