The Independent Higher Authority for Elections (ISIE) confirmed the tendencies of the second round. The official results published Monday, October 14, 2019, Kais Saïed lead at the top of the state with 72.71% of votes cast against 27.29% for its competitor Nabil Karoui.
Constitutionalist and antisystem candidate Kais Saïed is the new president of the Republic of Tunisia. Widely elected by the people, it faces a number of challenges, including the consolidation of democracy and the fragmentation of the national assembly.
Following the death of President Béji Caïd Essebi, a delay of 90 days was granted to Mohamed Ennaceur, acting president. With these democratic and transparent elections, Kais Saïed is expected to start leading the country on October 23, 2019, pending the official swearing-in ceremony.
