The reconciliation between the former President of the Republic of Senegal, Abdoulaye Wade, and his successor Macky Sall, now seems effective. After their first meeting initiated by the Khalif General Mourides Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, on the occasion of the inauguration of the Great Mosque Massalikoul Jinaan September 27, 2019, they met this Saturday, October 12 at the Palace.
The interview between the two men lasted 3 hours. Abdoulaye Wade finds the palace 7 years after giving the chair to his successor Macky Sall.
However, this meeting is appreciated differently by Senegalese. Indeed, if some find that this reconciliation comes at a time especially as the enmity between the two men began to take proportions difficult to control, others believe that the former president seeks only to find a quick solution for a return of his son Karim Wade in Senegal.
In any case, at the end of their interview, neither of them wanted to address the press directly. Their joint statement was read by the communications officer of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS), Mayoro Faye. The case Karim Wade, presently in Qatar, condemned by the Senegalese justice for illicit enrichment, was not mentioned.
