[UEFA EURO 2020] – Rashford, Sancho and Saka victims of racist insults
The English fans struggled to digest the lost final on Sunday 11 July 2021 in Wembley.Marcus Rashford of Manchester United, Jadon Sancho of Dortmund and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, are the names of the three English players who have been victims of racist insults on social networks for having missed their penalty in front of the Italian goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma. The British Federation expressed its support to its players, saying that it was “appalled”. The London police announced the opening of an investigation.
We continue to play the Euro UEFA 2020 finals overtime. After Italy’s victory on goal (3 – 2), the English fans attacked the three players who missed their penalty. They are young players Marcus Rashford (23), Jadon Sancho (21) and Bukayo Saka (19), victims of racist comments from the English public. “We are disgusted to see that members of our team, who gave everything this summer, were subjected to discriminatory online assaults after tonight’s game […] We support our players.” , said the English Federation on its Twitter account the day after the final.
The national football authority did not limit itself there. She warned English supporters against this type of behaviour which does not honor the Anflais people and football fans.During the whole season, before the start of the games, the players paid tribute to the African-American, Georges Floyd, killed in the United States by the policeman Derek Chauvin. “We say in the clearest possible terms that anyone behind such disgusting behavior is not welcome among the supporters of this team.” , insisted the English Federation.
The French midfielder, Paul Pogba, reacted to this discriminatory and racial attack. For him, it is unacceptable that these talented players who have marked football this season are treated with all the names of birds only because they had the courage to draw a penalty in the final. “I’m proud of you. You win sometimes, you lose sometimes. You had the courage to draw the penalties and you showed your value to help your country reach the final. We can no longer tolerate or tolerate racism and we will never stop fighting it. You boys should keep your heads up and be proud of your confidence. You are examples of this beautiful game. Never forget it. Be proud of yourself, the world of football is proud of you», tweeted the French player.

FAILURE OF THE ELECTION OF THE FEGUIFOOT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE – Guinea risks missing CAN 2023
The election of the members of the executive committee of the Guinean Football Federation, convened by the Standardization Committee on November 26, 2023, did not take place due to a lack of quorum. This election was therefore postponed to a later date.
The FIFA envoy invites Guinean football players to put aside their disagreements and make compromises for the happiness of football lovers. “Let’s put the egos aside, think about Guinean football, think about the journalists who live off it. Let’s compromise and move forward,” said Gelson Fernandes.
According to the FIFA Special Envoy, it is up to Guinea to deal with this problem. “Guinea is master of its own destiny. We will give our position. Guinea chooses which federation it wants to be in. The ball is in Guinea’s court. If she wants to move forward we will help her, but the ball is not in the CAF’s or FIFA’s court,” he suggested.
Referring to the failure to elect the members of the Executive Committee, Gelson Fernandes acknowledged that this is a serious situation and said he regretted the consequences it could have on the Syli as the CAN approaches which will take place in January-February 2024 in Côte d’Ivoire.
Finally, he invited Guinean football players to put their ego aside to allow Guineans to continue to live their passion to the full.
The term of the current Standards Committee is set for 30 November 2023. Guinean football is waiting.
