The Medical Colonel (F) Fatou Fall, was elevated to the rank of Brigade Surgeon General by the Head of State, Macky Sall, announced Tuesday, April 25, 2023, the Senegalese Minister of Armed Forces Sidiki Kaba.
“The Chief of State has appointed the Surgeon General, Fatou Fall,” he said on the sidelines of the installation ceremony of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Mbaye Cissé.
The Senegalese minister praised a “historic decision,” noting that this is the first time since independence that a woman has been appointed general.
Doctor-Colonel Professor Fatou Fall was hired in 1985.
She graduated from the University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar in 1992, says her biographical note which the APS was aware of.
She obtained the Certificate of Special Studies in Hepatology and Gastroenterology at the University of Abidjan (Ivory Coast) in 2002.
Fatou Fall is professor in Hepatology and Gastroenterology (Ecole du Val-de-Grâce in Paris) in 2012.
Head of the hepatogastroenterology department at the Dakar Main Hospital (Senegal). She is a member of the Senegalese Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (SOSEGH), a member of the African Society of Hepatology and Gastroenterology and the French Society of Gastroenterology.
