Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, 75, is hospitalized again in Germany for treatment. According to information from the Presidency of the Republic, he returned there on January 10, 2021 to deal with any complications in the foot after contracting the coronavirus in the soft of October 2020.
Before taking off from Boufarik military airport, the president said on national television that the return to Germany was already planned by the doctors who had treated him for Covid-19. In fact, he was due to undergo this foot treatment before his return to Algeria, but since it was not urgent, it had been postponed in order to allow the president to deal with certain “urgent cases”. “There is not much left of this treatment protocol, but it must be finished or I will lose all the benefit of what was done before”, declared the Algerian head of state, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, also specified that he could undergo “a small surgical intervention on the level of the foot”. However, no details were made on the length of this medical stay in Germany.
On October 24, 2020, the president went into solitary confinement after being in contact with officials infected with Covid-19. He was then hospitalized for two months, on October 28, in Germany.
