CAN 2019: Algeria joins Senegal in the final.

The semi-final between the Nigeria Super Eagles and the Algerian Fennecs will have kept all its promises this Sunday, July 14, 2019 at the International Stadium in Cairo. A fiercely contested match in which Algeria joined Senegal in the final by winning on the score of 2 to 1.

Algeria was still awaited after having left the competition Côte d’Ivoire in the quarterfinals. The Fennecs started well with some ball possession and some chances.

In the 7th minute, Youcef Belaili manages to center for Baghdad Bounedjah who can not resume.

In the 29th minute, the same Baghdad Bounedjah surprised Nigerian defender Kenneth Omeruo but missed his face to face with Daniel Akpeyi.

After the locker room, Nigeria begins to control the game and to be more dangerous. In the 71st minute, Aissa Mandi touches the ball in the box and gives the Super Eagles a penalty. Odion Ighalo does not tremble and scores his 4th goal of the competition.

In injury time, in the 92nd minute, Ismael Bennacer fired a heavy shot that landed on Daniel Akpeyi’s crossbar.

3 minutes later, Riyad Mahrez breaks the Nigerians’ hopes by turning a free-kick with a nice curling shot from the left foot (2 – 1).

Algeria will return to Senegal in the final on Friday 19 July at the International Stadium in Cairo at 19h.
