On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, the spokesman for the Ivorian government announced the resignation of Prime Minister Patrick Achi during his traditional report of the Council of Ministers.

According to Minister Amadou Coulibaly, the President of the Republic accepted the resignation of the Head of Government and congratulated Prime Minister Patrick Achi on the results achieved.

President Alassane Ouattara announced in a speech at the opening of the last Council of Ministers, the appointment of a new Prime Minister who will propose a new tight team next week. This is in order to strengthen the effectiveness of government action and to take into account the current global economic situation.

Africa Intelligence understands that Ouattara is considering appointing a vice president in the near future. And Patrick Achi would currently be a favourite. A promotion to the Vice Presidency that would place the latter in orbit in the race to succeed Alassane Ouattara in view of the 2025 presidential election. And to recall that constitutionally the vice president would be the designated successor of the Ivorian Head of State if he chose to leave power before the end of his mandate». Wait and see!
