Akon has two major new projects for the African continent. After installing electricity in a dozen countries, he now wants to set up a cryptocurrency, a pan-African currency, but also to build a city in Senegal called “Akon city”. For the construction project of this luxurious city, the Senegalese-American singer will be accompanied in particular by producer Jon Karas, by Ryan Scott and Lynn Liss (co-founders of the consulting firm on the Blockain Ico Impact Group).
This project could be considered as crazy or as part of a megalomania, but Alioune Badara Thiam alias Akon intends to complete it. The world artist signed a lease on January 7, 2020 with the Senegalese minister of tourism and air transport, Alioune Sarr which gives him access to 800 hectares south of Dakar, in an area called “Mbodiene”.
“Akon City” will consist of 60 villas with modern amenities and facilities. An initiative that will attract all eyes because it is part of the promotion of tourism in the country. For the moment, neither he nor the Ministry of Tourism and Air Transport, Alioune Sarr, have given details concerning the financial arrangement of this project.
The singer intends to invest a lot in the Senegalese tourism sector with the construction of this “futuristic city” which will be delivered after one year of work.
