SENEGAL – Appeals: More than 30 organisations from 17 countries strengthen Sonko’s «defence»

Ousmane Sonko

The fight is becoming international. The Neo-Pan-African Organization of Sovereignty (ONS), which brings together 36 entities from 17 different countries, is involved in the libel case between the president of the Pastef/Les patriotes party and the Minister of Tourism, Mame Mbaye Niang. While the latter appealed (the trial is scheduled for this Monday, April 17 before the Court of Appeal of Dakar) after the decision rendered in first instance on March 30, the ONS issued a long statement of arguments also going back on the genesis of the facts. This, in order to challenge African and world opinion. “We invite them to keep in mind all the previous episodes of the aforementioned persecution of Ousmane Sonko, in order to establish a direct link with the case of Mame Mbaye Niang, the minister of Macky Sall, and which is clearly part of a comprehensive plan put in place by the current President of Senegal, which national and international opinion suspect of wanting to seek a third unconstitutional mandate, to stay at the head of Senegal by eliminating from the presidential race the one that is expected as its potential successor», said the signatory members in the document that Seneweb publishes in extenso.

Continental news has been shaken for a few weeks by the harmful situation in Senegal. The country of Teranga is experiencing unrest as a result of demonstrations between the supporters of the Pan-African patriot leader Ousmane Sonko and the defence and security forces in the context of the defamation lawsuit brought by Mame Mbaye Niang, the current Minister of Tourism and Recreation of the government of Macky Sall, against the leader of Pastef.

Indeed, Ousmane Sonko, who is basically an expert in public finance and taxation and who began his career as a senior inspector of taxes and domains, said he had read a report of the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) Minister Macky Sall for the massive misappropriation of public funds through the activities of the Community Agricultural Estates Program (Prodac). This Senegalese state structure was created in 2014, which aims to integrate young graduates and unqualified workers into the agricultural professions, to promote private investment in the agricultural sector, to provide rural populations with a framework conducive to the development of real agricultural enterprises and the emergence of development poles, was under the direction of Mame Mbaye Niang at the time when he was minister of youth, employment and citizen construction.

“During this altercation, President Ousmane Sonko was sprayed with a suspicious liquid, the nature of which is still unknown, as well as Congressman Guy Marius Sagna, one of his most fervent supporters, who bravely stepped in to tear President Ousmane Sonko from the hands of police officers…”

It is therefore in connection with this trial that demonstrations took place on March 16 in Dakar and pitted the Senegalese police forces against the supporters of the Pastef leader. These demonstrations degenerated due to the intimidation and provocations of the police forces who wanted to impose an itinerary to the leader Ousmane Sonko to go to court but whose supporters mobilized very quickly to defend and protect him after that the latter was brutalized by the same police forces.

During this altercation, President Ousmane Sonko was sprayed with a suspicious liquid, whose nature is still unknown, as well as Deputy Guy Marius Sagna, one of his most fervent supporters, who courageously stepped in to tear President Ousmane Sonko from the hands of the police officers, who were being physically abused by them. It is in fact in front of the home of Ousmane Sonko with whom he had to go to the place of a demonstration scheduled on March 15, that the deputy leader of Frapp-France will be hit by a projectile that will hurt his thigh, while he opposed the forces of law and order which were determined to arbitrarily prevent the leader of the Pastef from leaving his home, although he had never been under house arrest.

Ousmane Sonko, who was forcibly taken to court by the security forces, is going to ask to go urgently to a hospital to receive treatment after suffering from this outrageous and barbaric aggression, which he has been the victim of in mondovision. He will finally be admitted to a local clinic after having been prevented from it by the same forces of law and order who have curiously brought him back to his home, while the leader of the Pastef felt very bad.

“The ONS notes with regret that since the beginning of his career as a senior civil servant, Ousmane Sonko has never stopped being in the crosshairs of Macky Sall’s power.”

Postponed until 30 March, the trial will finally end with the opponent’s sentence to a two-month suspended prison sentence with a fine of 200 million CFA francs. This verdict, for which the plaintiff Mame Mbaye Niang had initially expressed his satisfaction, was quickly challenged by thethe following day at a press conference, when he announced his intention to appeal for a higher penalty and a much higher amount of damages, threatening to seize the home of the leader of the Pastef if he did not pay the said amount within the prescribed deadlines.

The Neo-Pan-African Organization of Sovereignty (ONS) Questions Mame Mbaye Niang’s backtracking and wishes to emphasize its malicious nature which seems to be part of the logical continuation of the persecution and harassment of the Senegalese opposition leader, which was the victim of the Senegalese authorities for a purpose unavowed, In view of the many obstacles and administrative and legal problems of all kinds that he has been a victim of since he has been politically revealed to Senegalese and to Africa as a whole.

The Neo-Pan-African Organization of Sovereignty notes to deplore that since the beginning of his career as a high official, Ousmane Sonko has not ceased to be in the sights of the power of Macky Sall and to be persecuted by it-here, for his critical postures against him. Indeed, in August 2016, the current mayor of Ziguinchor, due to his diatribes against the government and his accusations against the Senegalese state for fiscal and budgetary anomalies involving President Macky Sall, is removed from the General Inspectorate of Taxes and Estates for failing to comply with the «duty of reserve», after the creation of his political party that allows him to be elected deputy in the National Assembly of Senegal in 2017.

In January 2018, he released the book Pétrole et gaz au Sénégal: Chronique d’une spoliation, where he accused Macky Sall and his entourage of embezzlement in the management of the country’s natural resources. In September 2018, he published a book program, Solutions, in which he gives a diagnosis of the social and economic problems of Senegal, outlining his proposals to remedy them. This book, which met with great success, was not well received by the Senegalese authorities, who saw it as yet another highlight of the opponent’s opposition to government policy and a proof of the presidential ambitions of the native of Thiès.

This desire to exclude by unorthodox means political rivals from the Senegalese presidential race is a constant among the Senegalese president who has done everything to put aside, by similar schemes, other presidential candidates such as Karim Wade or Khalifa Sall»

Having finished third in the presidential race in February 2019, Ousmane Sonko is gaining power and scaring the power of Macky Sall who no longer hides his aversion to the latter. In February 2021, the leader of Pastef is curiously accused of rape by a massage parlour employee who complains to him in the aftermath, accusations he rejects and qualifies as a plot to eliminate him from the 2024 presidential race. It was in the context of the trial related to this case that violent demonstrations broke out in Dakar in March 2021, pitting law enforcement and Ousmane Sonko’s supporters, nearly failing to bring down Macky Sall’s regime. Despite his legal problems, the leader of the Pastef continues his rise and is elected mayor of Ziguinchor in the local elections of January 2022.

n view of the above, the Neo-Pan-African Organization of Sovereignty (ONS) invites African and world opinion to bear in mind all the previous episodes of the aforementioned persecution, of which the leader Ousmane Sonko is a victim, to establish a direct link with the case of Mame Mbaye Niang, the minister of Macky Sall, which is clearly part of a comprehensive plan put in place by the current President of Senegal, that national and international opinion suspect of wanting to run for a third unconstitutional mandate, in order to remain at the head of Senegal by eliminating from the race for the presidential election the one that is perceived as its potential successor.

The Neo-Pan-African Organization of Sovereignty also notes to deplore the complicit silence of the International Community which thus gives the white-seing to Macky Sall whom she supports in her intrigues and her willingness to seek a third term to block a potential successor who openly criticizes the African policy of France and who does not hide her intentions to put Senegal in a dynamic of multilateral partnership in phase with an emerging multipolar world, at a time when the continental geopolitical context is characterized by the «irruption» of Russia in the African Meadow of France. This desire to exclude by unorthodox means political rivals from the Senegalese presidential race is a constant among the Senegalese president who has done everything to put aside, by similar schemes, other presidential candidates like Karim Wade or Khalifa Sall.

“The ONS therefore appeals to the Senegalese people to remain vigilant and in order of battle in view of the continuation of the trial between the leader Ousmane Sonko and Mame Mbaye Niang, for…”

The Neo-Pan-African Organization of Sovereignty invites the Senegalese authorities to recover and stop using justice to satisfy the unhealthy ambitions of President Macky Sall who does not hesitate to recruit on ethnic bases and in the whole sub-sub-region of the militias he incorporates into the defence and security forces, who are likely the perpetrators of the violence against Ousmane Sonko and his supporters and the attempt to poison the leader of the Pastef. This instrumentalization of the ethnic fact by the Senegalese president risks to undermine the national unity that seemed to be an acquired base of democratic culture recognized by the whole world in the country of Teranga. The Neo-Pan-African Organization of Sovereignty denounces the notorious and repeated violations of the rule of law by the Senegalese authorities who are probably sinking into tyranny, if we stick to the manual expulsion of lawyer Juan Branco chosen by Ousmane Sonko to defend him, and the arbitrary use of public power to create by violence a climate of terror in the country in view of the ever increasing number of dead, wounded and numerous recorded imprisonments.

The Neo-Pan-African Organization of Sovereignty supports the leader of Pastef who fights for the sovereignty of Senegal so that this African country has control of its natural resources, at a time when the increase in the exploitation of oil and gas resources makes the ruling caste in Senegal particularly greedy and violent and which explains the rise of tensions in the run-up to the presidential elections in February 2024, and all the violence and persecution against all those who are trying to prevent the derailment of the supposedly democratic procedures that must take place in that country. This support is fully justified in view of the hopes embodied by the Senegalese opponent regarding the problem of territorial integrity in relation to the Casamance issue, the rational management of oil and gas resources, and above all the geopolitical question that worries to the utmost the enemies of Africa of the freedoms that support in hand the dying regime of Macky Sall.

The Neo-Pan-African Organization of Sovereignty stands alongside the Senegalese people, whom it invites not to weaken in its mobilization to protect its rights, and therefore, Senegalese democracy, a guarantee of stability and development.

The Neo-Pan-African Organization of Sovereignty therefore appeals to the Senegalese people to remain vigilant and in order of battle in the perspective of the continuation of the trial between the leader Ousmane Sonko and the exploited valet of President Macky Sall, Mame Mbaye Niang, to protect the life of the leader Ousmane Sonko who is visibly threatened with death by a regime determined to ignite Senegal to satisfy the ambitions untila man who obviously chose to walk out the door and end up in the garbage of history.”

CÔTE D’IVOIRE – Opening of the Ivorian Parliament: the President of the Senegalese National Assembly speaks

Publie

le

This was in Abidjan on 20 January 2025. Several high-ranking political figures, including the President of the Senegalese National Assembly, El Hadji Malick Ndiaye, were present at this parliamentary session. The President of the Senegalese National Assembly, who was invited to this parliamentary session, spoke in a fraternal but solemn atmosphere.
Akwaba to the Ivorian
President Ndiaye was accompanied by a delegation from Senegal. And, with strong handshakes and hugs that his Ivorian counterpart, Adama Bictogo, wished the traditional Akwaba, welcome to him and the other members of his delegation. When Malick Ndiaye spoke, he used a language punctuated with metaphors and images to salute the spirit of hospitality of the Ivorians.

Call for African Unity Advocacy for a united Africa
In a brilliant speech, El Hadji Malick Ndiaye highlighted the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. Indeed, he urged both countries to join their efforts to address the political and economic challenges of Africa. “When the Senegalese Teranga meets the Ivorian Akwaba, it is a celebration of our common values of solidarity and peace,” he said. The laughter and applause were in the air when he compared thiéboudiène to the famous Ivorian attiéké. This very pictorial phrase has caused a general hilarity. Moreover, President Ndiaye did not fail to recall the historical ties between the two countries since independence. He also highlighted the proximity of their emblematic leaders, Léopold Sédar Senghor and Félix Houphouët-Boigny. “Our two nations share a unity of destiny and must continue along this path, strengthening their bilateral agreements,” he said, referring to the recent partnerships between the two states.

Advocacy for regional stability
In a few months, Côte d’Ivoire will host the presidential election. Aware that the electoral deadlines are crucial moments, the president of the Senegalese National Assembly stressed the importance of promoting peaceful and inclusive elections. This message of peace is in line with the words of Adama Bictogo who, at the beginning of the session, went in the same direction. Adama Bictogo announced that 25 priority bills in key areas such as human rights, environment and taxation will be reviewed.

A strong ECOWAS
El Hadji Malick Ndiaye reiterated the need to strengthen cooperation between West African parliaments. Indeed, in order to build a strong ECOWAS that will be at the service of people, it is necessary for States to stand together. In his speech, he said: “We must transform our regional space into a true economic and human community capable of meeting security and climate challenges.” In addition, the participation of the President of the Senegalese National Assembly at this session demonstrates his unwavering support for reaffirming relations between Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. It is this pan-African vision that the President of the Senegal parliament affirmed his commitment and that of Senegal to successful regional integration. This brotherhood, magnified in his speech, speaks of the need to build a united and prosperous Africa, where parliaments play a leading role. Undoubtedly, the Ivorian parliamentary session marks a turning point in the consolidation of relations between Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.

SENEGAL – Stefane Kabou, artist to political leader of the Movement Sovereign Senegal (MSS)

Publie

le

In Senegal, the line between culture and politics is often very thin, and Stefane Kabou understood it perfectly. He perfectly embodies this symbiosis. Born in Dakar, he first made his weapons as a cultural actor. But, for some years now, he seems to have understood that the true strength of the African states must lie in his actions, by the way sovereignists, to get out of western oppression by giving the possibility to the Africans to take charge, without a western babysitting. Africa, an aggregate of disunited peoples, must become a living reality, this is in a few words the ambition of this movement.

Stefane Kabou on the political scene
Like a river following its normal course, Stefane Kabou came naturally to politics. For many years, it has multiplied actions in favor of the most disadvantaged and fought against incivism through extensive awareness campaigns, Not without being despised by some of his compatriots and ridiculed by more than one. In a concern for social justice and exasperated to see that Africa in general, and particularly Senegal can not take charge, he launched into politics. He wants to become an essential figure in the Senegalese political landscape, thanks to his movement, the “Mouvement Sénégal Souverain” in short (MSS).

Stefane Kabou, Leader Mouvement Sénégal Souverain (MSS))

Why the MSS?
At the beginning, the name of the “Mouvement Sénégal Souverain” was “NATANGUÉ”, which means in Wolof hope. The leader, Stefane Kabou, had as his goal, as it can be read on his Facebook page, to create: “a movement based on solidarity and mutual assistance” that proposes that “solidarity, dialogue, peace are at the center of the debates.” But this name has evolved into a more global form to become the MSS, a political and social movement that advocates for genuine social justice and national independence in African countries, particularly Senegal. Let us point out that this movement does not deny the reasons why it was created. Stefane Kabou, seeing the desolation of the most disadvantaged strata, the almost militant contempt of successive governments at the head of the Senegalese state, decided to launch into politics in order to act directly on the causes of the problems that are undermining the country.

Stefane Kabou, a freedom-loving sovereignist
By founding the “Mouvement Sénégal Souverain”, Stefane Kabou has given new life to his struggle and a certain dynamic to Senegalese politics. The MSS does not merely denounce the dysfunctions of political regimes, it proposes an alternative vision for the country. The Movement advocates total economic and political sovereignty of the country, highlighting the need to diversify the Senegalese economy and establish transparent governance. His words are clear: “Senegal must free itself from all external interference in order to finally control its own destiny.” What could be more normal?

Stefane Kabou, Leader Mouvement Sénégal Souverain (MSS))

The MSS, against injustice and for transparency
Stefane Kabou stands out in his actions, both on social networks and on the streets of Senegal, for his commitment against impunity, against poverty, against incivism. He does not take lightly to openly denounce what he perceives as abuse of power, while calling in a spirit of peace the parties to the negotiations, as was the case during the last elections in Senegal. This peace-loving man has always called for an end to the violence and injustice suffered by many Senegalese. For him, the struggle for national sovereignty also involves the restoration of justice and the rule of law.

Stefane Kabou, a visionary leader
The career of Stefane Kabou, from his beginnings in Kaolack to his rise on the national political scene, testifies to his determination to influence the future, the course of politics in Senegal. Through the MSS, this emblematic leader positions himself as a key player of the new generation of Senegalese leaders, ready to redefine the rules of the political game for a fairer and more sovereign future. Stefane Kabou is a visionary, a man whose commitment could well shape the future of Senegal. Under the impetus of the “Mouvement Sénégal Souverain”, Stefane Kabou is on his way to becoming an indispensable force in public debate, embodying the hope for a political renewal for many Senegalese.
