In a dynamic of modernization and rehabilitation of road transport, Senegalese President Macky Sall has accelerated the work of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). According to him, the work is on track. This infrastructure will not only make life easier for passengers but also improve urban mobility between the capital Dakar and the suburb of Guédiawaye.

“All of this will create a revolution in the transport sector. We must continue to reduce the informal nature of the intercity transport sector and stop the fast buses which date from the 1950s to the 1960s, ”said President Macky Sall.

The Dakar Urban Transport Executive Council (CETUD) has been appointed by the Senegalese state as the contracting authority for this new infrastructure. 144 articulated buses make up the BRT. Each bus can hold up to 150 passengers per rotation. 14 municipalities in the Dakar region will be served. It will be operational 7 days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. It will be commissioned in 2022 according to CETUD.
