ALGERIA: The import of vehicles less than 3 years old put on hold

The importation of vehicles less than three years old has been put on hold but not canceled. Ferhat Aït Ali Braham recalled on Sunday October 11, 2020 that this government measure on the import of automobiles does not rule out the possibility of relaunching the operation in the medium term and this after the implementation of various financial and economic reforms.

During an interview with the National Radio, the minister indicated: “We have not canceled the law (the article on the importation of vehicles under 3 years of the 2020 finance law), but we are in the process of to study the possibility of relaunching the operation in the medium term, after the implementation of financial and economic reforms, likely to allow the citizen to acquire a vehicle, according to the official exchange price and at reasonable prices ”.

This decision to freeze imports comes within the framework of the 2020 Finance Law. As for the market for new vehicles, “it will be open to all brands” according to the minister according to the minister.
