Contrary to the announcement by the Senegalese authorities, the commercial circulation of the Regional Express Train (TER) cannot be done in April 2020. These are the words of the French Ambassador, Philippe Lalliot, who was the guest of the program “Grand jury” of the Rfm Sunday February 9, 2020.

The Senegalese and especially the Dakarois will have to wait a long time before they can take the TER. Indeed, the final entry into service of the Regional Express Train (Ter) in April is not technically feasible despite assurances from the government. Before the commercial circulation, it will have to be tested with round trips on the line, check the ticketing, but also the computer equipment to install.

The Train will transport more than 1000 people. All safety standards must be respected, according to Ambassador Philippe Lalliot.

Taking advantage of the occasion, he clarified that he does not understand the meaning of the fight waged by Guy Marius Sagna and “Frapp France releases”. French companies are present in Senegal because they were chosen after a call for tenders. So for him, there is nothing illegal that can justify the actions against a country that has good relations with Senegal.

Regarding the second phase of Ter which is to go from Dakar to Blaise Diagne International Airport in Diamniadio (Aibd), an 18 km journey, he said that it could be completed before the 2022 Youth Olympic Games.

“This train will be a major economic asset for Senegal and will create sustainable employment,” he said.
