SENEGAL: Ousmane Sonko case : I think I have enough to do than plot for such low things.” says President Macky Sall

President Macky Sall

The President of the Republic of Senegal, Macky Sall, comes out of his silence and pronounces himself for the first time on the case of Ousmane Sonko which has been in the country for more than two weeks. On the airwaves of Radio France Internationale (RFI) this Tuesday, February 23, 2021, the Senegalese head of state releases all his responsibilities in this case which, for him, is in the hands of the Justice. He finds absurd the thesis of the conspiracy brandished by the respondent, Ousmane Sonko.

Senegalese President Macky Sall was questioned by journalist Alain Foka on this social case on a political-judicial background: I believe I have enough to do than plot for such low things.” Once again, this is an unfortunate case. I do not know what it is, basically. I cannot wish, even to my worst adversary, such a situation. Now, there is an accusation, there are procedures, we must not confuse the president with things that are not his concern.”

Pastef leader Ousmane Sonko was accused of repeated rape and death threats by a 21-year-old masseuse named Adji Sarr. The deputy immediately brandished the thesis of an orchestrated conspiracy at the highest summit of the state. He had evoked the idea of an attempt of political liquidation by quoting the President of the Republic Macky Sall and the Minister of the Interior, Antoine Félix Diome.

It is thus on the airwaves of French radio RFI that the Senegalese head of state describes these absurd accusations.

Remember that in 2019, the leader of Pastef came 3rd in the presidential election. A position that makes him the first opponent of the ruling power.
