BENIN: Louise MUSHIKIWABO celebrates Benin, a model Member State

On the second day of her working visit to Benin, the Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Mrs. Louise MUSHIKIWABO was received in audience by the Head of State, Mr. Patrice Talon, in the morning of this Thursday, September 24, 2020, at the Marina Palace.

Introduced to the Presidential Cabinet by Mr. Aurélien AGBENONCI, Beninese Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary General of the OIF had a long meeting with the President of the Republic. This conversation described as very frank by Minister AGBENONCI had for heart the relations between Benin and the Francophonie but also an overview of national and international politics, issues related to the empowerment of women.

Very amazed by the presentation by President Patrice Talon of the progress made by Benin in recent years and the secrets of these successes, Mrs. MUSHIKIWABO spoke of her happiness to exchange with President Talon

Facing the press as she left the audience, the Secretary General of the OIF presented Benin as a model member state of the organization she heads. To support her assessment, she mentions the dynamism of Benin within the OIF through its participation in political missions and training. This credibility, she said, has just been demonstrated by the flow of responses received from Benin following the expression of interest relating to the COVID fund for women in the informal sector affected by the pandemic.

The other strong announcement of this interview was revealed by Minister Aurélien AGBENONCI. Benin will take its share of the funding by supporting the Secretariat of the network of French-speaking ministers of digitization and digital technology, an innovative structure.

After this hearing, Madame MUSHIKIWABO will have working sessions with ministers. On the agenda of his stay are also visits to the French-speaking digital campus of the University of Abomey-Calavi, the Sèmè City development agency, and a tour of the historic city of Ouidah.

The working visit to Benin of the Secretary General of the Francophonie ends on September 25, 2020.
