The public short festival held its ceremony in Saint-Louis this Saturday, June 12, 2021 with the support of its various partners including the Ministry of Culture and several Senegalese actors.  With his film “When I grow up”, highly appreciated by the jury, the native of Popenguine (region of Thiès), Mandir Ndoye Thiaw, is the winner of the second edition of this Festival. This self-taught writer and director is also the author of the novel The Ashes of the Revolt. “Congratulations to Mandir Ndoye Thiaw who won the first prize at the second edition of the Public Court festival, (this Saturday, June 12, 2021 in Saint Louis), for his film “quand je serai grand”, from the label up Courts Métrages”, reads the Facebook page Cinekap, initiator of the contest.

Kadidiatou Sow received in 2021 the second prize of the first edition (2020) because of the health crisis that forced Senegal to take several restrictive measures ranging from the ban on gatherings to the curfew at night from 9pm. With her film entitled “Place dans l’avion”, the Senegalese director, screenwriter, script-girl, costume designer, visual artist and gallery owner exposed her know-how that convinced the jury. It should be noted that this same film was selected in 2017 for the World Premiere at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival, before winning the Best African short film ex-aequo (AMAA 2017, Nigeria).
