YERIM SECK BOOK – Sheikh Tidiane Cissé: “I finished reading Sheikh Yerim Seck’s book”

Cheikh Tidiane Cissé VS Yérim Seck

I share my feelings and the elements I have retained (for those who do not have time to read the book): I think the book is well written. It is easy to read, accessible and well documented in some places. This book is far from being a pamphlet against Macky, it is on the contrary an extraordinary asset for any Macky activist who would like to make known the record of his leader. By reading the first chapters we cannot help but fall under the spell of the Senegalese pure juice Marième Faye. The book portrays Macky as a man of the people, a “president with a strong social fibre” who has great empathy and consideration for the poor because of his social background, a hard worker (who has not slept since he came to power), a methodical man, a super-warrior but a fake villain. In short, for Sheikh Yerim Seck, Macky is clearly on the side of the good guys.

– Chapters 10 and 11 allow the author to show Macky’s material achievements over the past 10 years. Macky is clearly placed by the author in front of all the former PR of Senegal in terms of balance sheet.
– In my opinion, it is not insignificant to see the digitized version of the book circulate so easily on our social networks: it is made for. This book is meant to be widely distributed, to be read by all those who wonder about the political future of the country. It’s a program-based report that needs to be popularized.
– The author prepares the readers for the occurrence of the third mandate, which has already been validated in his opinion by the Constitutional Council following a referral by the PR.
– At the same time, he demonstrates that there are no alternatives to Macky in 2024:

Sonko is portrayed as a politically immature, radical, divisive and raw man of his only partisans, with light morals and he tells us that Macky dafa yakk deram with the French (GMS his acolyte is anti-Français), with the Americans (accusation of links with Salafism) and oil lobbies that are very interested in Senegal right now and are very powerful.
– Idrissa Seck is portrayed as a person of no political significance, neutralized by Macky.
– Malick Gakou is described as someone who was close to entering the penultimate Macky government.
– Khalifa Sall and Karim would be politically finished, since the question of amnesty would, in his opinion, be a sham.
– Amadou is described as networked and appreciated by many but almost hated by the boss and especially totally dependent on Macky’s choices.
– Mimi is described as the most dangerous, which most effectively unravels everything that Macky put in place to support his third term.
– He finishes the book on a chapter or he asks Macky to carry out 3 big works for the future of the country (Optimal exploitation of gas and oil, Digital and digital transformation, Equitable distribution of resources).

The question I have is, can someone with less than a year’s mandate do this work? Or is Yérim turning down Macky’s program for 2024/2029?

The great Yerim gives us some revelations that should make each of us reflect:
– Idrissa Seck and Macky tied up their deal before the 2019 presidential election. “Macky and Idrissa kept exchanging calls and envelopes.”
– Karim Wade partially funded Macky Sall’s 2012 campaign
– Macky approached the Constitutional Council for an opinion on the legitimacy of his candidacy since 2020 and the one that responded positively.
– Amadou Ba was a municipal councillor for the Socialist Party and was one of the leaders of Karim Wade’s concrete generation.
– Macky recruited Tony Blair, Jack Lang and a lobbying firm to help convince foreign partners of the merits of his future candidacy.
– Sonko sought Idy before 2012 and then changed his mind. Sonko applied to Macky for the position of Director of ARMP in 2012 and Macky reportedly refused.
– The fisheries sector, which employs over 600,000 people, is being methodically deconstructed by Macky and his family. Scandals follow one another and the horizon is very bleak, with nearly 6,000,000 families at risk.
-The Senelec would be in the middle of a financial scandal with “over-billing converted into commissions that peak at $21 million” just for the period of June to October 2022. The Senelec chapter hurts.

I do not know what is true or false in everything that has been said but what is certain is that a great deal of information, some of which was already circulating in the form of rumours, has been delivered to us. There is food for thought (and work for everyone): justice, citizens, politicians of all stripes.

I close with these two wonderful sentences from CYS about democracy, “…If all these legitimate demands cannot be met, it will be common sense to prefer to this undeveloped democracy a just, enlightened dictatorship that creates progress”… “A developing dictatorship is better than a democracy that maintains underdevelopment.”

If all this does not make us think mom keneu meunou tchi dara… Sonko was ill-advised with her release.
