SENEGAL – African Gold Ball – The Bavarian summer flagship rookie, Sadio Mané, boot Mo

Salah and E. Mendy touch! And give themselves a double. Nice hat! This Thursday, July 21, 2022, in Rabat, Morocco, during its annual African football mass, the CAF, Confédération Africaine de Football, awarded numerous distinctions to the best footballers of the African continent. A question was on everyone’s lips: Who will raise for this edition the trophy of this year’s (male) African gold ball? On the women’s side, however, there was really no match: the trophy went back to Nigerian player Asisat Oshoala for the fifth time.

It felt like an ultra-powerful strike from the outside of a heavy right foot in the room. We didn’t really expect that. However, we suspected that the winner would come from the Liverpool Red team. In Liverpool, there are two African players who are in great shape. One Red was going to have to tackle another in the big hall. Hell of a duel. To everyone’s surprise, the trophy of the ball was awarded to the striker of the Senegalese national football team, to the “Lion de la Teranga”, Sadio Mané: the former striker of Liverpool. At the expense of Mohamed Salah and Edouard Mendy. This is the second time in a row that Sadio Mané has won this prestigious trophy, which rewards the best African footballer of the moment. However, he is still far from the two recordmen of this trophy: Samuel Eto’o (Cameroon) and Yaya Touré (Ivory Coast).

This season looks good for the CAN 2022 African champion who joins the German club, Bayern Munich. Cost of transfer: 32 million euros. Number of seasons: 3. In football today the amount of this transfer is not really stratospheric, but for a player of the calibre of Sadio Mané (who won everything from a Champions League, a Premier League, two national cups, a European Supercoupe and a Club World Cup, CAN 2022), it’s cheap.

Teranga, king of Africa
This year, the lions of the teranga have taken the lion’s share. The footballers of the Senegalese national team have the wind in their sails; they have won a large part of the trophies. In just a few years, footballers have turned the tide. They are indisputable starters in their various clubs. Every breeder dreams of having a “teranga lion” in his staff. Known to be real lions, they are generous in effort. This year, we only talked about them: From Aliou Cissé (best coach) to Pape Matar (best hope).

With Robert Lewandowski who has just joined the Catalan club, Sadio Mané, no longer in the shadow of the Egyptian pharaoh, Mohamed Salah, he can now nurture solid ambitions: to be the true Meister of a great world class team.

FAILURE OF THE ELECTION OF THE FEGUIFOOT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE – Guinea risks missing CAN 2023

The election of the members of the executive committee of the Guinean Football Federation, convened by the Standardization Committee on November 26, 2023, did not take place due to a lack of quorum. This election was therefore postponed to a later date.

The FIFA envoy invites Guinean football players to put aside their disagreements and make compromises for the happiness of football lovers.  “Let’s put the egos aside, think about Guinean football, think about the journalists who live off it. Let’s compromise and move forward,” said Gelson Fernandes.

According to the FIFA Special Envoy, it is up to Guinea to deal with this problem. “Guinea is master of its own destiny. We will give our position. Guinea chooses which federation it wants to be in. The ball is in Guinea’s court. If she wants to move forward we will help her, but the ball is not in the CAF’s or FIFA’s court,” he suggested.

Referring to the failure to elect the members of the Executive Committee, Gelson Fernandes acknowledged that this is a serious situation and said he regretted the consequences it could have on the Syli as the CAN approaches which will take place in January-February 2024 in Côte d’Ivoire.

Finally, he invited Guinean football players to put their ego aside to allow Guineans to continue to live their passion to the full.

The term of the current Standards Committee is set for 30 November 2023. Guinean football is waiting.
