Senegalese musician-singer-songwriter-songwriter Thione Ballago Seck, father of the famous singer and new darling of Senegalese music, Wally Ballago Seck, died this Sunday, March 14, of illness. By Afrik.com

Thione Ballago Seck, Senegalese musician-singer-songwriter-composer, born on 12 March 1955 in Dakar, was recalled to God on Sunday, 14 March 2021, at the age of 66. Father of the famous singer Wally Ballago Seck, the author of the song «Mathiou» is said to have died as a result of an illness, leaving behind him his son, whose support he has been for his entire little life.

Indeed, after having given birth to one who is unquestionably a griot’s child, Thione Seck had to form and train his son, Wally Seck, who became a centerpiece on the chessboard of Senegalese music. Today, if Wally Seck is at the center of the showbiz of this West African country, it is largely thanks to the hard work of his now deceased father.

Together, the father and his son braved obstacles: from the pursuit of them to the prosecution of a case that, despite the prison sentence, resulted in a dismissal of the case. «Chassé» du Kilimandjaro, une boîte de nuit située sur la Corniche Ouest, à Dakar, au Sénégal, Thione Seck avait réussi à se débrouiller pour delocaliser son business vers le Penc Mi (ancien cinéma El Hadji rénové), situé à la Médina.

At Penc Mi too, Thione Seck did not have peace, since he tried everything to keep his work tool, hunted from all sides. Today he has gone, after years of hard work, through justice and life, taking one step at a time, to be able to protect his family, including Wally Ballago Seck, of whom he was the guardian, serving as a support to the frail shrub that was his son, become great today.

Yes, Wally Ballago Seck grew up like a baobab in the middle of this musical jungle. And no doubt, he is ready to take up the challenge of honouring his father in a world of Senegalese showbiz plagued by jealousy and internal battles. The hitmaker of «Diaga» is no longer of this world. Rest in peace Thione Ballago Seck. Wally, you have the microphone.
