Aubrey Drake Graham is the first artist to have 150 different songs broadcast over 100 million times on streaming platforms, according to Our Generation Music.

Canadian rapper Drake has made a name for himself again through an impressive record on Spotify. These 150 tracks that have exceeded 100 million streams on the platform are a perfect illustration. The most popular songs of the artist are «One Dance» which is in the lead with more than 2.1 billion. “God’s Plan” comes second with 1.7 billion streams, and “Passion fruit” in just under a billion with 947,863,544 streams.

As a reminder, Drake was already part of the very closed circle of the ten most streamed artists in history. Last October, the 34-year-old rapper broke the record for the most-listened song of all time with his hit “God’s Plan” on the Swedish streaming giant Spotify.

The public is looking forward to the release of his next project «Certified Lover Boy». The release date of the album is not yet known. But there is no shortage of statements from some stars. DJ Khaled recently mentioned the release of the project on Instagram. “Let Jah Rise and all his enemies disperse!” Khaled wrote. LeBron James, the star of the Lakers, also told fans to get ready for the release on his Instagram story. “Certified Lover Boy coming people!! My brother’s not around! Champagne papi,” he said.

Long affiliated with the label of rapper Lil Wayne Young Money Entertainment, Drake officially signed there in June 2009. His first studio album, Thank Me Later, was released on June 14, 2010. In November 2016, Drake became the third rapper to reach a billion views on YouTube with the single Hotline Bling, after Eminem for Love The Way You Lie and Wiz Khalifa for See You Again. He managed to reach first place in Billboard Hot 100, Canadian Hot 100 and Official Singles Chart with his songs “One Dance” (in collaboration with Wizkid and Kyla), “God’s Plan”, “Nice For What” and “In My Feelings”. His albums “Views” and “Scorpion” reached the first place of the Billboard 200, the Canadian Albums Chart and the Official Albums Chart. The album “More Life” by the Canadian artist also reached the first place of the Billboard 200 and the Canadian Albums Chart.

At the beginning of December 2012, Drake formalized his own record label with the name “October’s Very Own” (written most often OVO), filialized by Warner Music Group. His fourth studio album, entitled “Views”, tells the story of his attachment to his hometown of Toronto.

Fatimata Diallo BA, a French-Senegalese writer, recently made her mark on literary minds by winning the prestigious Cénacle Prize for Young Writers of Senegal in 2023 with her poignant novel «Rouges Silences».

Originally from Dakar, Fatimata grew up in a rich cultural atmosphere, and her academic background led her to the university benches in Poitiers and Paris, where she studied Classics. This Franco-Senegalese acquired a unique perspective, merging the literary influences of the two cultures that shaped her.

With seventeen years of experience teaching in the suburbs of Paris, Fatimata Diallo BA decided to return to Senegal, where she currently works as a teacher of French and Latin at the prestigious Jean Mermoz French High School in Dakar. Her dedication to education and the transmission of knowledge is reflected in her active commitment to her students.

«Rouges Silences», his award-winning work, is a testament to Fatimata’s literary sensibility. The novel, on deep and universal themes, captivated the jury of the Cénacle Young Writers Prize, attesting to the author’s exceptional talent.

As part of the 9th edition of the Galsen Hip-Hop Awards, the Ze-Africanews team met Y.DEE the initiator of this cultural project.

Y.DEE lives between Senegal and the United States, he returns every year for this program in the city of Dakar. Host, columnist and rapper, he told us about his career, his impressions at the end of the 9th edition of the Galsen Hip Hop Awards edition 2023. During this edition the 50 years of Hip Hop were celebrated.

The African continent was represented at this edition. The older generation was honoured as forerunners and elders in the field.
