Pinned by a BBC investigation, Aliou Sall finally decided to resign from his post as General Manager of the Caisse de Dépôt et Consignation on June 24, 2019 through a message posted on his facebook account.
A surprising announcement especially since since the beginning of this scandal related to oil and gas contracts signed between the State of Senegal and foreign companies, Aliou Sall, President Macky Sall’s brother had categorically refused this option of departure. Coup de theater, this Monday, June 24, 2019, he returns to his decision in these words:
“So I want to respond this time by the acts because it is also my duty, for the present as for the future, not to say for the story, to wash my dirty honor, to protect mine who are even more affected today than me in their flesh and in their spirit. It is at the same time a problem of justice, of dignity but also of responsibility. (…) I take here before you the decision to resign from the head of the Caisse de Dépôts et Consignations as of today. ”
An announcement that, undoubtedly, will be part of this investigation opened by the Serigne Bassirou Gueye Prosecutor, and which aims to shed light on this case in the heart of the Senegalese news for more than 3 weeks.
However, Aliou Sall remains mayor of Guédiawaye and president of the Association of Mayors of Senegal.
